3Sox Releases ToePilotA company is betting that if people like palm-based computing, perhaps foot-based technology is an untapped market waiting for innovation.
3Sox Corp. has released its first product, the ToePilot. As the name suggests, the user operates it by way of those stubby digits at the end of one's feet. But, this is no piggy-stayed-home affair: The ToePilot remains in your shoe, where it can be easily accessed at any time. You "write" by way of a script the company calls "grafeeti."
And customers don't have to check their soles for enlightenment. Using a clever feedback mechanism embedded in a sock that's provided with the unit, the ToePilot relies on acupuncture-type sensors to relay output through the nervous system to the brain. Result: You'll actually feel as though you've nailed the answer.
While we haven't received a unit for testing, 3Sox said they were tickled by reports from their own usability labs.
So, if you're the type who likes to tap in email as you walk down the grocery aisle, or stamp out bugs while jogging to work, the ToePilot is bound to feats of accomplishments.
