Simpsons Episode Explains Bill Gates Acceptance?

Innovamate?
In an episode of The Simpsons, a new employee at the nuclear power plant seems to be the only one who cares that Homer Simpson is a dangerous idiot.

He makes several comparisons between himself and Homer: College degreed versus college dropout; hard worker versus slacker; careful, mannered, and studious versus blundering, greedy, and dimwitted.

And yet, as he is astonished to discover, everyone just accepts that it is Homer who is allowed to affect and cause consequences in everybody's daily lives.

Likewise, those of us who have suffered with one of Microsoft's numerous dimwitted products also wonder why no one else seems to object to the mayhem wrought by the college-quit, idea-grabbing, asleep-at-the-Internet Bill Gates.

Perhaps our population, kindred to the fabled residents of Springfield, also just accepts him with a shrug of the shoulders and a sighed, "That's our Bill!"

But, should one of us break down -- shouting "Look! I can write damaging code just like Microsoft! I can grab your files and secretly upload them just like Microsoft! I can annoy you with cutesy assistants just like Microsoft!" -- what does that yield?

It's we who go down in flames while the billionaire shills another best-selling book on the obvious.

Or, maybe, the public desires a reliable town idiot, a compass known to faithfully point in the wrong direction.

In this case, Microsoft and its pie-faced leader perfectly suit the role.

Other Simpson/Gates similarities:

Homer Bill
Takes no notice of Marge's blue hair Takes no notice of the blue screen of death
Doesn't mind pouring water on the safety console Doesn't mind pouring files all over your hard disk
Doesn't know what's going on in his family most of the time Doesn't know what's going on in his company most of the time
Hates his neighbors Hates his competition
Catch phrase: D'oh! Catch phrase: C'ool!
Screams at his family Screams at his employees
Gets mad when you point out his faulty habits Gets mad when you point out his faulty products
Doesn't care if he destroys your life Doesn't care if he destroys your life
